TheatreWorks: The Nationally Acclaimed Theatre of Silicon Valley

With a reputation for artistic excellence, innovation, diversity, and integrity, TheatreWorks is Silicon Valley’s leading professional nonprofit theatre company. TheatreWorks presents a year-round season of musicals, comedies, and dramas in the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts and at the Lucie Stern Theatre in Palo Alto.

Dedicated to the discovery and development of new voices in the American theatre, TheatreWorks regularly stages new works, many developed in the company’s own New Works Initiative; regional and West Coast premieres of important modern and contemporary works from Broadway, off-Broadway, and beyond; and distinctive re-imaginings of the classics.

Founded in 1970 by Artistic Director Robert Kelley, TheatreWorks today is led by Artistic Director Giovanna Sardelli and Executive Director Debbie Chinn.

Founded in 1992, Peninsula Youth Theatre’s mission is to provide outstanding theatrical learning experiences that develop leadership, emphasize responsibility and foster teamwork in a supportive, respectful environment. PYT's emphasis on professional production values helps children develop a deep appreciation for the theatrical arts. An unique family atmosphere and policy of full participation for all skill levels allows children to develop a strong sense of self-esteem and an appreciation for artistic expression, and vital communication skills that are useful in all walks of life. PYT is committed to providing an enriching theatrical experience within our community and schools to demonstrate and reinforce the positive role the arts play in academic success.

In addition to its CenterStage and Stories on Stage productions at MVCPA, PYT offers year-round classes in acting, singing and dancing for children ages 3-18 at its Mountain View studios, and an extensive summer camp program in Mountain View, Palo Alto and Saratoga. PYT also brings after-school drama classes to local elementary schools through its Play in a Box program.

Upstage Theater is a completely teen-run theater company that provides opportunities to teens of all backgrounds from across the Bay Area to participate in every aspect of theater, allowing them to hone their skills in both acting and production work. We are dedicated to creating safe spaces to examine what it means to be a teenager through material written by or about teens that they would typically be unable to participate in in a school or community theater.
